We haven’t had a day like this in a long time. Many of the patients were diagnosed with malaria; some even had to be treated as inpatients.
The whole waiting room was packed and many of the patients preferred to wait outside on the lawn. Wanjala, our doctor, and Mathew, the nurse, were in full swing. The water dripped down from their foreheads. In addition to the patients, there was a young mother in the maternity ward who was about to give birth. At 4 p.m. Mathew was called and with big steps he hurried to the birthing room. After a short 15 minutes the girl was born. Everything went well, the baby is healthy there were no complications. The mom was a little weakened, but she is doing well.
