After Eddie Kroll was saved from drowning by locals in a boating accident on the beach in Mombasa, he decided out of gratitude to start an aid organization that engages in relief projects. Thus, in 2006, the Shilling for Shilling Association was founded in Austria. Various water facilities have been built and handed over to the population since 2006. Thus, a water facility was also created in cooperation with the Rhine Valley Hospital Association.

In 2018, the association “Shilling for Shilling” opened a school for about 700 children in Maji Moto. The school enables children in the region to attend a functioning school for the first time.

With the Austrian Kerstin Amudala, the association “Shilling for Shilling” has a competent person of trust on site in Mombasa. Together with her husband Levi Amudala, she manages Shilling for Shilling’s projects in Kenya.

First joint project successes

We have already completed a first project together with Schilling for Shilling. A photovoltaic system and two fresh water tanks could be added to the school buildings. In addition, an infrastructure for the breeding of meat and laying hens could be built. This supports the school management in the long term with the catering of the school children.

Currently, we are partnering on another project. Additional classrooms and a small medical outpatient clinic will be established to provide basic and emergency medical care to the school children. In our realignment, we thus continue to meet our goal of providing basic health care to poor people.
