Just over a year has passed since the board of the Rhein-Valley Hospital Association was able to travel to Kenya and open the infirmary in Shimba Hills. Since then, we have expanded the building and received the operating license from the Kenyan Ministry of Health. The license is our basis for setting up the clinic. Last year, I traveled to Kenya three times on working visits. During my last visit in September, I worked with Eddie Kroll (President of our partner association Shilling for Shilling) and our local team to develop a new organizational structure. In the meantime, the RVH Board of Directors has approved it. It regulates the tasks of the individual department heads and to whom they report.

I am particularly pleased to tell you that we have hired Violet Maghanga as a full-time clinic manager as of December 1. In her we have gained a well-trained specialist. The establishment of the Rhine Valley Hospital Health Center is a matter close to her heart. We introduce you to Violet Maghanga here.

Seit der Eröffnung des Gebäudes im Oktober 2022 hat sich das Rhein-Valley Hospital-Healthcenter weiter entwickelt. Es gibt einen gedeckten Wartebereich, eine Photovoltaikanlage, einen Wassertank und ein WC-Häuschen. Diese bauliche Erweiterung war eine der Voraussetzungen für die Erteilung der Betriebsbewilligung des kenianischen Gesundheitsministeriums im Juni 2023.

We are constantly working to improve the area’s infrastructure and thus contribute to a higher quality of life for local people. Investing in education and health gives children and young people prospects and hope.
