Valued donor
I am happy to share with you my experiences from my working visit to Kenya in September. It is amazing what has been achieved in Maji Moto in such a short time: just three years ago, there was no basic medical care in the region. People were literally left to their fate with their illnesses.

Thanks to your valuable support, our association has succeeded in establishing a day clinic at the Rhein-Valley Medical Center, which now provides permanent basic medical care. Clinic director Violet Maghangha plays a central role in this endeavor. She has assembled a team of local professionals. The doctor tailors her work to the needs of the population and makes the most of the potential available.

The Kenyan health authorities stipulate that children should be born in a hospital or a certified facility such as our medical center wherever possible. This is very important for the health of both mother and child. Lives have already been saved in our maternity ward, which opened this year.

I am very happy about the positive development of the Medical Center. The clinic team is doing an excellent job and the benefits for the population are enormous. My colleagues on the board in Switzerland are also working tirelessly to raise the urgently needed funds. However, I must also report that it is becoming increasingly difficult to provide the annual operating budget of 100,000 Swiss francs. My greatest concern is that we may no longer be able to do so. This would be a disaster for everyone involved and would make us very sad. We have developed an effective idea with the “Donors recruit donors” campaign. You can find out more about this on the back of this letter.
