The medical centre at the school in Maji Moto has been in operation for three years. Now that the infrastructure is in place, we are doing everything we can to further develop medical care. For example, every Wednesday is therapy day for children with cerebral palsy. An external therapist comes to the clinic and helps the patients improve their mobility. One example is seven-year-old Amina. She has a foot deformity. We have enabled her to undergo the urgently needed operation – which costs 150 euros – and receive plaster cast treatment.

Amina benötigt eine Operation, damit sie schmerzfrei laufen kann.

Amina’s feet are now being gradually adjusted into the correct position. For many families, children with special needs place a heavy burden on them. This girl is lucky enough to be receiving treatment. To help us fund operations such as Amina’s, we have set up a fundraising campaign here. Thank you for helping us reach our target of 5,000 Swiss francs.

Living healthily also means eating a balanced diet. The most efficient way to achieve this is to grow your own food. Clinic director Violet Maghangha has set up a gardening project. There is some unused, fertile land in the neighbourhood of the Medical Centre. It is ideal for growing local, nutritious food.

With this gardening project, Violet is taking another step alongside us and the community towards self-sufficiency and a balanced diet for the local population. She provides people with inspiration and practical methods to help them take responsibility for themselves.
