The initiators of the Advent Café in Altstätten, Eveline Alder and Ursula Schelling, look back on the successful project with great pleasure. The café was open in the small hall of the Protestant church for a total of twelve days. Thanks to the help of 47 volunteers, visitors were treated to fine cakes, delicious soups and much more.
In the past year, Hilfswerk GL Zurich again made a generous donation of 25,000 Swiss francs to the Rhein-Valley Hospital Association. This wonderful amount contributes greatly to providing medical care to the desperately poor people of Kasambara-Gilgil. Thank you very much!
The Advent season always begins in Altstätten with an Advent night. The UBS Altstätten branch was also represented at this year's Christmas festivities. The banking team sold goulash soup in the Städtli.
In November, the financial situation of Rhein-Valley Hospital caused us so much concern that we turned to our many loyal benefactors. The letter and a newspaper report triggered not only consternation but also a gratifyingly great willingness to support the association financially.
On Monday, December 19, we received the news of another generous donation. A local foundation from the St.Gallen Rhine Valley has transferred the donation amount of 5000 Swiss francs to us.
